Fundraising 5Ks and other similar events have a completely different appearance under current pandemic guidelines... and you may even find this new approach more appealing than the typical group run or walk.
Many such events have "gone virtual," meaning you do the race at your own pace, on your own schedule.
One that is particularly meaningful for many of us is the Nicole Podkowa 5K Run/Walk coming up on Oct. 3, 2020. Sponsored by Southcoast Health, this event honors the memory and kind spirit of Nicole Podkowa, wife of Southcoast primary care physician Dr. John Podkowa who passed away in May 2016 of breast cancer.
Proceeds will support the Nicole Podkowa Patient Family & Caregiver Fund. This unique fund supports patients being treated at the Southcoast Health Cancer Centers and their families who are in need of financial assistance to help with utility payments, food, housing, transportation, cancer related supplies and other necessities.
